Why now? D-Day for Cortes Island's forests may come as soon as this week. Community leaders are presenting a final appeal to Island Timberlands' head of operations in Nanaimo. Parts of the forest were re-surveyed and a few trees have been cut (for scaling or log booms, probably). At any rate, they haven't backed down yet. Time to ramp up our game!
