Our Story

SocialCoast.org || Community For Change

SocialCoast is a non-profit organization designed to create a central hub for the environmental and social justice movement in Victoria, B.C. Our organization provides a space for people to take action by supporting or creating local campaigns, become informed on local issues and solutions, and work as part of a larger community creating positive change. 

Through a recent collaboration with fellow website "Integreen" and the help of many volunteers, SocialCoast launched a new version in January of 2012. SocialCoast brings together a diversity of people and ideas through networking, special events, online discussion, and unique campaigns.

At SocialCoast, we are building a foundation upon three core aspects:

COMMUNITY

SocialCoast highlights organizations doing positive and instrumental work in the community, and aims to connect people to the causes they are passionate about. By doing this, we strive to enrich local organizations, and help strengthen the progressive movement towards positive change.

ACTION

At SocialCoast, we believe there is no real community without real action.We strive to provide people with tangible action opportunities, so they can get their hands dirty, seeing and feeling the positive difference they can make in the world.

AWARENESS

As individuals, there is an opportunity to discover the world around us. With greater awareness, comes a clearer vision for a sustainable future. SocialCoast highlights current and important local issues, and strives to source through independent media.

JOIN THE TEAM

We have a great group of core volunteers and are hoping to add a few more enthusiastic people to help us with:

Videography and photography: To capture local community action events to help show how fun the movement can be.
Journalism: To help us share the stories of what our and other organizations are doing in the community and making stronger connections to the local media. 
Marketing: We want to reach as many people from as many diverse sectors of the community as possible. 
Web design and programming: We are constantly improving our site, and could really use some help to streamline the process.
